Hi, welcome to my blog! This is my first post using Wordpress. After several thoughts of using other blogging engines, such as Mephisto (I’m a big fan of Rails!), Moveable Type, etc, I finally decided to go with Wordpress because of its simplicity. I kinda wanted to use Rails for the purpose of trying things out and learning, but I’m just gonna put that aside for other projects.
First impression of Wordpress? Lots of plugins and features which is nice. The interface is pretty straightforward, but I still need to get used to some of the detail configurations. I tinker around a lot with the server on which I host this blog. And since I’m still learning, hopefully I don’t erase the database by mistake or mess some stuff up such that it requires fresh install.. I’ll probably be blogging in both English and Japanese (if time permits and no distraction around..) The good thing is that there’s a plugin in Wordpress (xLanguage) that enables you to blog in multi language. Very convenient. So, I might move my mixi blog to here, too (FYI, mixi is a Japanese counterpart of Facebook. Lots of people there don’t use Facebook and use mixi, instead).
Anyway, I just finished the preliminary front page at http://www.davidasikin.com. It took me quite some time because I tried to use some jQuery to enable box pop up. Check it out!
