I was born and raised in Jakarta until I had to move to Tokyo after graduating high school to pursue higher education. I attended Tokyo Institute of Technology and was lucky enough to be awarded Valedictorian of Control and Systems Department. In my senior year, I spent sleepless nights at Fujita-Hatanaka Research Lab working on Voronoi-based coverage controls of multi mobile inverted pendulum robots on e-nuvo wheel platform. You can see my work here (the second one). It is also introduced in the website of the company which makes e-nuvo platform. Working under Prof. Masayuki Fujita and Asst Prof. Takeshi Hatanaka had been a tremendous pleasure for me.

After graduating from TiTech, I worked for a stint as an intern at a Japanese robotic company, ZMP Inc. There I set up a wireless network system on the e-nuvo platform that I had been working on at Fujita-Hatanaka Research Lab and developed a new product that lets e-nuvo talk to each other and connect to different devices (i.e. Wii remote control, PC, etc). I also authored the operating manual of the product. You can buy the product for 59,850 yen (roughly $660) and see the details of the product in Japanese in the company website, here. e-nuvo is a convenient robot platform if you want to conduct experiment on path planning, control, or, multi agent system.

I came to Pittsburgh in August 2008 to get my Master’s degree at Carnegie Mellon University, School of Computer Science, majoring in Robotics. In Robotics Institute, I am working as a Research Assistant for Dr. John Dolan on a NASA funded project on doing trade-off analysis on reliability of planetary robotic missions. I also helped in making the simulator for another NASA award project to build telesupervised boats that can detect harmful algal blooms in the ocean.

In my spare time, I love to tinker around with my Linode 360 VPS and learn developing web apps. I am a fan of a web application framework Rails and an avid collector of any good Rails books. I program mainly in Python but I jump-started on Rails instead of Django when I heard the hype about it on the net. Web technologies have long fascinated me and whenever possible, I would spend my time to script around and learn.
