Day 3: Beach, Wave Machine, Clubbing & Go Home!
This is the second part of my post regarding interviews at Qualcomm. Here we were on our way to the beach to do some surfing! It’s in the official schedule guys.. it’s official. >=)
A kiosk selling “San Diego” T-shirts. I probably should have bought one.
There was this theme park right beside the beach we were going to. It’s pretty packed with people although it was still early 10AM-ish?. I guess people were there to enjoy San Diego’s sun. And hey, it’s family time, it’s Saturday!
Me and McKinsey, another interviewee for Qualcomm.

The limo that brought us to the beach.. NOT. (probably they would provide one if we pay $200 out of our pocket).
Special tent reserved for Qualcomm people. Had some nice Mexican lunch there: Beef Tortillas with some vegetable.
Nothing can beat Nachos with hot spinach dip and tomatoes!!
Time to ride the WAVE MACHINE! This is the 4th test in Qualcomm. The last and the most important one. If you messes up your previous interviews and ace this one, you will still be hired. Just kidding, but the lifeguard girl was pretty and has crazy surfing skill. Behind the girl is Justin, my buddy from Georgia Tech, trying to set his foot on the surfing board.
Here is me by the attractive lifeguard girl, before getting washed away by the wave. I managed only to stand for 3 seconds..
Justin riding the waves!
Another look from the front of the wave machines. Spectators were cheering for the surfers.

Outside the wave machines is the beach. Warm and sunny day. What more to ask? =)

I joined in for a couple rounds of volleyball match with the other interviewees. White sands, blue water and palm trees..?! That’s San Diego, baby!

Me and Daniel from University of Waterloo. He flew in from Canada just for this interview!

It was actually a lot colder than it seems, hence, the sweater. But still a pretty nice weather compared to Pittsburgh. =)

Doesn’t this one look like picture in postcards?! Warm-tone old California style. Palm trees everywhere, I’m loving this!

Apparently this burger place is very famous in San Diego. And they have these bunch of secret keywords (apparently, the keywords are well known, so they’re not secret anymore..) that let you order some special stuff not included in the menu. After spending a whole day at the beach, we went back to hotel to get some rest to be ready for the NIGHT.

Diwakar and Justin, ready to roll.

Sky Lounge, the club on roof top of Mariott Hotel where we stayed at. Fancy fireplace in the middle of the club.

Bartenders busily serving drinks to all patrons. Some cool background lightning.

Group picture with other interviewees and staff from Qualcomm!

Time to say good bye to San Diego and go back to Pittsburgh. Me and Diwakar went back together using the route again (San Diego – Chicago – Pittsburgh). This is the food court at O’Hare airport, Chicago.

Last meal before getting on the plane back to Pittsburgh: fried rice with tofu and vegetables.

3 Days interviews (or, should I call it adventures?) in San Diego has finally reached the end!
Time to go back to school.
